Skill Requirements - 2021/2022

These are skills you will be asked to perform at auditions. We give them to you in advance so you have time to prepare them to the best of your ability as they will more than likely be used in routines when the season starts. If you do not have all the skills, that does not mean you should not audition. Maybe you jump like a gazelle jumps but struggle with turns, maybe you can turn like a top but can’t quite kick to your face. Everyone has areas where they shine and where they struggle. All we ask is you do your best!

Jazz

Pirouettes - Performed using proper technique

Russians - Travelling and standing

Kicks - minimum of eye level for front and side. Right and Left

Splits - open hip, right and left; pancake style centre

Jetes - Right and Left (not shown in video)

Street Dance

Foundation in hip hop and other street styles including:

House

Breakin

Waacking

Vogue.

Pom

Kicks - Minimum eye level for front and side; right and left

Illusions - Open & Closed; right and left

Single Toe Touch - Traditional pom prep as seen in video

Double Toe Touch - Traditional pom prep as seen in video

Pirouette - Triple is preferred.

Turns in Second - (a la second turns; pump turns) minimum of 3 into a double out; advanced - 3 into a double, 3 into a double and out. (Advanced not shown in video)
