Video Coming Soon, Please Read Below

We are posting our expectations of our team so those auditioning understand, quite simply, know what will be expected of them, so there is no surprises on the first day of practice.

These will all be a part of our finalized handbook which will be given to all successful candidates.

Attendance

  • Attend weekly practices and participate in scheduled technique classes

  • Attend competitions and events

  • Give 48 hours notice if missing any require events (practices, classes, competitions, events) unless sudden illness of tragedy occurs

  • Consequences may occur if multiple practices or classes are missed.

This is fairly self explanatory. Show up. But we do understand life can happen.

Personal Well Being

  • Keep flexibility, strength and fitness at optimal level throughout the year required to perform all movements full out multiple times

    • this goes along with our workout tracker. Two days a week is not enough. You are in charge of making sure you are the best possible dancer you can be at all times.

  • Taking care of yourself to avoid illness, injury and mental distress

    • this is knowing yourself well enough to know what you need to do to take care of yourself so you can continue to perform at the caliber we demand. Eating healthy, drinking enough water, getting enough sleep, knowing what you need to do for self care to reset yourself and keep yourself from getting bogged down.

Personal Accountability

  • Come prepared

    • Wear appropriate clothing, have your water, be there on time, know your stuff, have everything you need.

  • Proper Time management

    • We are aware you’re students first but you need to have the foresight to plan your life around what is happening in it. You HAVE to be organized. Missing practices or classes because you have homework is not acceptable. Get it done before or after practice or class. (If you have a test to write during class time, that’s acceptable).

  • Finances

    • To be completely transparent with you, this is a heads up that if you need to, start saving NOW. We do not get any funding from the university for what we do. We rely on fundraising and team fees to cover costs. We try to keep the team fees as low as we can but there is an extra cost for travelling. You are responsible for ensuring the fees are paid on time.

  • No illegal activity, causes for immediate removal from team.

    • self explanatory.

  • Maintain a clean social media

    • This is if you want to post or display that you are on this team. Remember, by being a part of this team, you are automatically associated with every other person on the team as well as the university.

Bottom line is you need to have your crap together.

Traits

Character Traits have a lot to do with how a team functions as a whole. Obviously, there will be different personalities on the team but these are a few key factors that we look for and expect out of our dancers.

  • Smart Dancers

    • being spatially aware, cleaning yourself, taking corrections, using proper technique; we’re not going to spoon-feed you, figure it out.

  • Must be open to trying new things and willing to take on a challenge

    • Something you’ve never done before? Great! And it’s hard? Even better! WORK FOR IT! That is the beauty of dance is there is always was to improve and challenge yourself.

  • Driven

    • We can not make you do anything. You have to be willing to work for whatever is put in front of you to conquer.

  • Accepting, Team Player and Inclusive

    • At the end of the day, you are a team. You have to function as a team. There is a no room for egos. Do your part.

  • Clear Communication

    • Coaches are not meant to be scary people. Yes, we may yell. Yes, we may be hard on you. Yes, we may expect a lot out of you but at the end of the day we care about you as people too. If you have an issue, if something happens or you just need to talk to us, PLEASE DO! We can’t help if we don’t know.

This is NOT intended to scare you! Most of items are self explanatory or understandable. We just want to be upfront with you about what we expect of our team members from the beginning so you know what you are working toward!

Good luck!
