Auditions 2022 - Workout Tracker

What is the Workout Tracker?

A Calendar to track your workouts throughout the summer. This is an asynchronous (on your own) requirement for auditioning and being a part of the University of Saskatchewan Dance Team.

Why do I need to do this?

Majority of our dancers that come straight out of high school onto our team are used to dancing 4-7 times a week. As we do not practice multiple times a week, it is up to you to keep your body in competitive shape to be able to fully perform your routine come competition time. This is to keep you accountable to yourself and maintain injury prevention.

Additionally, somewhere between ages 18-21, things that used to be really easy, start to take more effort to perform and more effort to maintain. Not a bad thing, just an honest reality of getting older as a dancer! We just want to prepare you and keep you in one piece!

What counts as a workout?

You can choose from one of the 4 following categories for your workouts.

- Stretch: this is to increase your flexibility; please warm up first

- Skills training: Think drills for to better your skills;

- Strength training: This is a traditional workout but be aware of what muscles you are working. Try to be intentional of which muscle groups you target to get the greatest benefit of your workout for your dancing.

- Cardio: get your heart rate up! Ideally in 2-5 minute bursts so you can make it through a routine running at your full capacity.

Do I need to workout everyday?

You are not expected to do something everyday. Rest days are important to allow your muscles to recover. But be active more days in a week than you are not.

Where do I get my Workout Tracker?

It will be emailed to you when you apply! If you do not receive it as a part of your confirmation email, please let us know.

If you need more clarification on how this works, check out the video we filmed last yer when we introduced our workout tracker!
